Main travellers routes
- Simon Bolivar International Airport, located just outside Caracas, is the main airport in Venezuela with direct flights from major US and European airports.
- You can enter Venezuela by road through Brazil and Columbia although the Brazil border is some distance from all major destinations. A popular route from Columbia is on the coastal road via Maicao and Maracaibo.
- There is a weekly ferry between Port of Spain in Trinidad and Guiria in Venezuela.
- Bus travel is recommended over car hire due to the chaotic nature of the roads.
- The Venezuelan bus network is comprehensive and covers most major destinations.
